Sulphuric acid is used to make hundreds of compounds that we use today. It is mainly used for fertilizers (e.g. superphosphate of lime, ammonium sulfate). Sulphuric acid is also widely used in production of chemicals. it is used in chemicals (e.g. hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and sulfate salts, dyes, pigments, explosives, etc). It is also used in the process of certain metals, for example, it is used to clean steel and iron before plating them with tin or zinc. This chemical is sometimes used in petroleum refining to wash impurities out of gasoline plus other refinery products. Sulphuric acid also mixes readily with water in all proportions and absorbs water from materials, making it a very useful chemical.
